Perhaps more a nuisance than a threat, glandular fever is a virus that is notorious for taking a long time to run its course. When a patient is first exposed to the virus, it may take 7 – 14 days before symptoms develop. Once present, symptoms may linger in varying degrees for 6 to 8 weeks. The virus can spread even without someone showing signs of the illness and some people remain contagious for more than 6 weeks after the symptoms are gone.

There is an interesting medical condition named acrochordon which are benign tumours which occur on the surface of the skin taking on the skins with colours varying from that of the skin to purple or black. These are also called skin tags because of the very reason that they hang from the skin on a stalk or tag. They are most frequently found in the body’s skin folds.
